So today was the first time I've put a chainsaw to a tree. I'd like to give a huge shout out to Eric VW for showing me the ropes. This will be the first of many times in the cut! Loved every second of it. (Even when the ground thawed and we battled getting over the hill!)
Welcome to FHC MarkG ... so you met FHC’s Photographer and/or supervisor ....... Looks like he must have given you some good pointers...
Welcome to the club, MarkG ! You're lucky to have Eric there learning you the craft! Eric is good people!
Hey now, you guys lighten up on E. He's a great stuporvisor. Good on ya for passing on the wood cuttin knowledge E!
Welcome to the group. Glad to have you. You done messed up and tried it. You are addicted now. But we will help support the habit...just don't let Eric VW show off the FT. He's mighty proud of it, almost like a new saw...
Since MarkG and I work together, and he purchased a home with a stove, it was a no brainer that he should get a saw... which he bought from CHeath last weekend. After a little bit of familiarizing with the MS 170 that I won at Backwoods Savage ‘s first GTG (thanks to Gary_602z ), Mark fired up the 362C and the rest was history. I believe he’s ok with getting bitten by the Firewood bug. A great day, even after ice skating in the mud with a fully loaded 1/2 ton truck. That part wasn’t so cool. Glad I didn’t call for Mark to video that escapade.
Welcome to the addiction. You chose a good supervisor to learn you cutting. If you don't want to be don't ask Eric VW to show you the FT.
You won??? If I recall correctly it was Fire Flake 's saw . Good on you to instruct a newbie on proper use of a saw.
MarkG welcome to the land of BTU's. Great job on the PPE, just might want to consider hearing protection too. Remember "saw dust is man glitter".
Yes. She was kind enough to lend it out. Truth be told, she wasn’t at the 1st MI GTG when the saw was was “won....”
He didn’t have his felling helmet on (with built in hearing protection), true. And we both forgot foamy ear plugs.
Sorry Eric. I could very well be wrong. I came in at #2. Every one I have attended the saw was won by a lady. #2 Julie? #3 Robin.
Hearing protection is right on. I can't stress it enough. When I was a young bull, hearing protection was for sissies. Nothing could harm me. Now that I have many more grays. I see the errors in my ways. When I first realized my hearing lose, I could not hear what my granddaughter was saying. When my first cat came to me, my granddaughter would say "Papa. He is purring." I heard nothing. The only way I could tell if the cat is purring is to hold my finger on its throat. Please wear your hearing protection.
