I think I'll like this little stove. We closed on the new cabin yesterday so I had to stay in it tonight. Firebox is pretty small but it's doing a pretty good job in this small space. It's only in the upper 20s tonight so not real cold. It took it a couple of hours to heat it up to 68 inside. I'm guessing I'll have to get up to refill once or twice tonight. I've got my eye on a couple of dead trees that will come down tomorrow . I think I'm gonna like this place!
Nice looking setup. How close is that wall on the right side of the stove? Do you have proper clearance there?
It's 20" to the side and back. It's got good clearance according to the manual. I had to reload about every 5hr but it kept it a little too warm for me, about 75*. I'm good with about 68*. I walked the woods a little this morning and saw several downed trees that need to be cleaned up. Good mix of oak, maple and cherry. I'd better get busy.
That's great that it is working out for you. If you like the F 100, you would really like the F-3. It runs even better with a slightly larger firebox.
Brad M where abouts is the cabin at? Don't have to be specific if you don't want to, just a general area would be fine. Nothing like a nice peaceful relaxing fire in a cabin to help unwind from the week!
It's WSW of Scandinavia, WI on Peterson Creek. It's a nice little spot. I figured out on this stove that it burns much better with longer burn times to load it N to S with 8-9" wood. I can fit more in and don't have to worry about anything rolling out when I open the door. Where are you located in the UP? My neighbor is from around Hancock I think.
The F-100 is a really nice looking stove. When we went stove shopping, we were going to buy that one, but when the dealer came to map out the location, he told us that because of the size and lack of insulation in our house, we would be better served with the F-3. I wish we actually would have gone up to the 400 or even the 500, but we use what we got and I really can't complain as I'm quite sure it's paid for itself and then some.
Yes, you just can't beat more BTUs. But, you always burn hot and clean in a smaller stove. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Any new reports on this stove. Im in the process of completing my Cabin(256sq ft) 90 mins North of Montreal. I'm eyeing this stove for heat and trying to balance not getting burned out of the cabin but also not get getting up 2 twice a night to reload. I also have a radiant propane space heater already installed so I'm hoping to load it once before bed and let the propane pick up the slack at 3am. Or should I get the 602? I only got to use the stove for a few months because I bought the cabin in January of 2017 then took a different job with the company in October of 2017 and moved from Wisconsin to Missouri. Had to sell the cabin in November of 2017. I do remember that cutting the wood 8" or so long and loading the stove N-S would allow me to pack it a little tighter and gave me longer burns. I would still have to get up about 5 or 6am to reload. My little cabin was just a little over 400sqft. It was a nice little stove. I miss that place although I talked to the guy I sold it to a couple of months ago and he told me a tornado came thru during the summer and took out about half of the trees on the place. Made me sad and I don't even own the place anymore!
