The insert we installed for my parents two seasons ago wasn’t large enough to sustain an overnight fire so we shopped around and found a Baker for a decent price. Dad cleaned it up and put some fresh paint on it. Seasoned it outside and yesterday we finally got it put in. Let some stove cement cure and today is first fire. So far so good. Spending some quality time with dad listening to records and watching a fire.
Dad’s an avid carver. Here’s some of his stuff. He needs three full rows per season so we got close today.
Ah, yes...I think I recall that being mentioned somewhere in the past...a smaller unit, sub 2CF probably, huh? Anything much under 2 CF will be tough to get 8 hour matchless reloads from...our Drolet 1400i (1.8CF) does 6 hours no problem, 8 if you load oak (or some major coaling species) in just right, anything much more than that, nah not on the norm anyways.
