Firewood moisture

    I filled up the wood shed in January with wood that had been stacked out in the rain. Checked moisture on some splits and it’s right around 15.5% after about three months under cover during a rainy Winter.

    Some wood that’s been under cover for two years is showing about 12.5% on the outside as I didn’t split any to check.

    It might be 12.5 inside too...but testing the outside is generally meaningless.

    Measuring outside is not meaningful. You need to split a split and measure on the fresh face of the split. Outside will dry a lot quicker than the inside.
