As some may know I was attempting a kinetic conveyor (no motor). Still think it’s possible but my attempt isn’t going so well. Decided life’s too short to mess around.
I saw this one for sale near me. Not a conveyor expert. Says it’s a custom built one with Honda motor.
I’m wondering about that belt. You folks think that will work or it will it just jam with debris or fail altoGeTher?
I know the photos not great but appreciate best guesses and opinions.

IMO... with out cleats on the belt... it'll be a fail...I've seen walt ... I've seen conveyors in the plastics industry... very few... items will go up a hill without physical help... my 2 pennies worth...

It might work kinda sorta, if the angle is kept low...but once cranked up much, I bet splits won't want to ride up well at all.
Beltlines usually work better for granular materials IME

Yes it will work , but it would work better if there was cleats on the belt. Get a little frost on the belt and sometimes a split will break traction. That looks like a nice well built conveyer. Both of my firewood elevators are old ear corn elevators that I adapted to use for firewood. Belt conveyer is much better than chain. Don't know what they are asking for it but I would not hesitate if the price is fair.

    I'm with Dave and Kevin.
After using Walt's, i don't think it'll work as well without cleats. Even with cleats, the splits would roll over the cleats pretty often, sometimes 2-3 times end over end untill they'd catch or jump out over the side.

they’re asking quite a bit. $7000. I realize it’s not a steal but at the same time everything had doubled in price lately.
There’s also a 32 foot Hudson for sale, looks almost new, maybe it is new. $10,000.
I don’t need anything big and fancy but I don’t want to wait 24 weeks/months either.

I think it is running to fast, cut the speed in half and it would work better

Agree. They say that’s just a touch over idle so without regearing I don’t think you could get much.

I’ll try to add a side shot of the original conveyor. It doesn’t have a lot of height but I’d still be worried about snow and ice even if it did work while dry.

I don't have much invested in my units. The first one I put together I paid 100 dollars for the old ear corn elevator and a 100 dollars for the old boat trailer. Bought an electric new electric motor to run it. The second one I had the elevator and the boat trailer give to me ,I power it with a Honda motor.

I sure like the looks of it, is it 20 foot? Both of mine are 20 foot and they seem to be about right for me.

It doesn’t say. I may have to go take a look at it. Cleats or no cleats. Should work with that honey locust stuff :)

I have a belt conveyor with no cleats and I’m very happy with it . It’s a heavy sob , came from a Kmart going out of business . It was used to move boxes inside the building . Has foward and reverse , 110 volt motor . It a rapastin ( sp) made right here in Mich . Best thing is I got for $200 !
