I procrastinated and procrastinated. (Not my nature at all.) my wife asked if we could get the rest of the pile split last Friday. I told her that it sounded like a good idea. We got 2 1/2 cord split and stacked Sunday and Monday evening. Hard to see it in the poor pictures but there is +/- 8 1/4 cord total in the three rows and...

Now if I can find time time to weed the garden we will be in good shape! image.jpeg

Just for the sake of throwing it out there, we do have our "this years wood" in the shed.
    Thanks Dennis. 3 years plus!

Okay, you are excused for procrastinating this time. Was that your way to get her to help?   For sure splitting and stacking in this July heat had to be tough.

That is a nice bunch of firewood and some beautiful sunflowers. Looks like the corn is not tasseled yet but that far field might be some corn that is tasseled.

Pete you have a nice looking work area for your firewood and some really neat rows of splits.
It's a nice feeling to be so far ahead.
The sunflower gods are good to you

Wow, thanks for sharing. Nice stacks of wood and those sunflowers! I have sunflowers growing wherever the birds dropped seeds from the bird feeder. They come up in the strangest places. I always try to leave them alone. I consider them my gift from the birds for feeding them.

I never get tired of seeing the sunflower fields with the stacks of wood.

    Thanks again Pete!

    Nice sunflowers.

I've tried growing them here but the squirrels come from miles around and destroy the plants getting to the seed heads - even before they are quite ready.

Thanks a bunch for all of the compliments. It is funny to see where the birds will drop the seeds and where they will grow. The neighbor had a few growing in the gutters of his old machine shed. That was my fault of course! We all just laughed.
The sunflowers don't last long. They'll be dry and I'll start to mow strips in them with the brush hog the middle of the second week of August.
We are amazed every year how many people knock on the door and ask if they can take a picture with the sunflowers. We have never said no, but tell everyone to do it at their own risk because of the amount of bee's around. Luckily no one has been stung. A lot of times there is a head or two missing from the sunflowers after the pictures are taken. I wonder what could be happening to them.

Nope, Dennis, I just wanted to wait for cooler weather but I got nudged in a more productive direction.
The corn that isn't tasseled yet did get planted a touch late. I'm also fairly sure it's long season corn. We have been getting spotty rains and plenty of degree days so it will be in good shape for them I hope.
