Saturday night fun starts with a wheelbarrow full of wood. Campinspecter is bringing wood in from outside.

    The dump mechanism is manual.

The caulk boots are used for brakes on the downhill grass portion.

I have the inside job where it is dry and warm - almost too warm as the boiler room without the boiler running is at 78 F

Two hours later, we have one and a quarter cords moved in.

The rest can wait until tomorrow.

Sunday was wetter so I was glad to have the inside job again.

    100_0961.JPG

All done so I tried out the timer on my camera.

    100_0972.JPG

We ended up with 2 1/2 cords of wood in the boiler room. By the time, the last of it gets burnt, it is dry, dry, dry wood.

The wood is definitely warming you more than once. Good job Mr. & Mrs.

How long will that last you?

I've got to do the same thing in the next couple of weeks -- I've only got room for a 3/4 of a cord right now but I'm going to rearrange some things so I can fit 2-3 cord. Might not happen this year. :( Nothing worse than running low on wood in the basement with 2' of snow on the ground and cold temps.

Woodwidow, we love the posts you and Campinspecter put up......keep 'em coming!

Looks like a fantastic amount of work was done there, and like was mentioned already, that wood warms you more than once that's for sure!
I've got to bring in the first big "batch" of wood here in the coming week or so.....I usually wait til the "real" cold sets in for the winter before bringing wood into the basement. Up until then, I just bring up a wheelbarrow full every other night and let it set off of the back porch, to keep the bugs out......

Sorry, Pete. That large silver thing is our water heat storage tank. It is 1046 Imp gallons or 1260 US gallons. Lots of insulation around it. Below is a picture of the boiler.

We heat our house year round. It is a total of 3000 sq ft. on two floors plus we heat all our domestic hot water. Campinspecter created an indoor clothes drying area so we don't run an electric dryer. Our electric costs are about $62 a month and now with all LED lights and the TVs turned off, I think we will see a drop in our electric bill. If I could perfect cooking in the boiler like fishingpol, I wouldn't need the electric oven! :D All because Campinspecter loves to gather and hoard wood.
