Guess I am the only one here that has any fire wood tractors.
By the way I think that green and yellow Kubota is the uglest Kubota I have ever seen.

Of course people who really know tractors knows that isn't a green and yellow painted Kubota but for some reason the Kubota people allowed it to be there, probably to make their Kubota look better.

You know many many years ago the company de3cided to paint JD tractors green and yellow so a farmer could hide them in the grass and dandelions when a REAL tractor drove by.

Thats not fair! The guys with the green tractors have to put them out in the sun so they'll "ripen up" and work...

I sure like the skidder you made Erik and it looks like it works pretty good snow or no snow.

Nice. It always amazes me how many old tractors are out there still getting the job done.

Nice skidder and even that green and yellow out fit is able to pull it with a few hunks of fire wood.

I like the fords almost bet there more N series fords still working today than any other tractor ever sold.

That is a neat M sure would like to see a close up of that winch set up.

    Warning...

When I bought my farm there was a '47 M on the property. Put in a battery and it started. The property had just been logged. I used the tractor to pull up all the tops and cut them into firewood. I probably sold 100 cords from just tops. I always pulled from the drawbar because that was the only point to hook up. I had no idea of the dangers...

A friend of mine was pulling out an oak tree on his farm about the same time and hooked to the 3 pt hitch. The log got stuck in the dirt. He gunned it and the tractor flipped instantly killing him. Another friend was standing there and saw the whole thing. After this I researched the physics of flipping a tractor. It only takes .75 seconds for the tractor to climb the ring gear and drive you in the dirt. Look it up. I learned a lot from that and hope this helps someone here to stay safe.

Yeah around here you see a lot of 60-70s vintage tractors with aftermarket ROPS on them.

There are a TON of antique tractors in this area of Ohio...many of the local farmers have newer 300HP (plus) tractors in the shed, but occasionally you will still see them out raking hay (or pulling a load of firewood) with the old iron...pretty cool for an old farm boy like me to be in the back yard and hear the putt-putt-putt of ole Johnny, or the growl of an ole Farmall, still gittin 'er dun!

Where I live now it is the compact tractors all over. Mostly city folks wanting some thing to plow the snow from their 50 foot drive ways, mow grass and haul mulch all around to their flower beds and till a garden plot. Some even have horses and use the front loader to move manure from the barn to the dumpster or a pile by those smart enough to compost the stuff.

Where I grew up now way do you see many compact tractors. Many Farm all M's H's and 300, to 450 utilitys. Some john deers A's and Bs with a H or M in the mix. A bunch of Silver kings as the dealer for them was well respected and a lot of Molines from the 335 to the big star series when the Silver king dealer started selling them.

Plenty of Olivers to go around also from the 60 to the 1855 models.

Like useing any tool have respect for the power to start and then use it accordly.
Isn't to smart to jerk a hung up log when all you probably need to do it change the angle of pull.

Like the first part about the old tractor starting, the rest not so much! A friend of mine that I rented from years ago had a Farmall Super A. One day he tried to pull a stump with the chain hooked high, and the tractor started to climb and he froze. All I could do was scream "clutch". Seemed like the front wheels were 6 ft off the ground when he reacted, clutched, and the front came crashing down. Fortunately he was just walking easily into the strain instead of moving fast. The rest of you guys are making me jealous with your neat equipment!
