Just found out one of my neighbors has one of these installed in one of his houses. Looks awesome, but how do they heat? Any good or are they just for looks really?

Reminds me of the old models you would see from the 70s that still pop up on CraigsList.

A fire hanging from the ceiling? It's retro but I kinda dig it.

I think that is one of the James Bond series stoves. It turns into a motorcycle or submarine which ever you need at the time.

I like it but I doubt it would heat the whole house. Maybe I can put one in the garage/bar/game room.

I did a search and found out these units are adjustable 360 degrees to throw heat whatever direction you want. They better have a really robust hardware system to suspend stove, wood and flue and also be adjustable.

Interesting article here about suspended fireplaces:

Well, why aim the stove where you want the heat? I want the heat in my entire house?

I suspect the folks that buy this orb are looking for ambiance more than BTUs.

They are pretty robust. All heavy gauge stainless, ball bearings for the rotation....

    Pretty cool looking for sure.
