    Like the lady on T.V said: "Just goes to show ya; if it's not one thing it's another." I guess that's why apples that were $.69 per pound last year are $1.99 a pound this year.

    While this is written in Georgia, I've read the blight is headed to the apple growing areas of the North East.

    Fireblight is everywhere, this year it was showing up in our Aristocrat Pears at the nursery. I've seen it for years in mainly the older apple trees in my area. It also loves to get into pyracantha and red tipped photinia. If you're having your trees or bushes trimmed by anyone other than yourself make sure they disinfect their tools before they start the job. And if you're doing it do the same.

    Always something with trees and especially with fruit trees.
