Needs tires, I scored some nice American Racing wheels off Craigslist that still need to be polished up. I took it out on it's first wheeling adventure (since I've owned it) and it did well even with the near bald 31's on it.
Beautiful truck and beautiful place to go wheelin! Those are beautiful pics! Thanks for sharing. What size are you looking to buy? I bought some new 35" Retreads and they saved me about 50% over new. They are a Goodyear MTR "look alike".
Nice tires For the money, they are awesome tires! I can't remember who posted the link ? But maybe it was you? Whoever it was? Thank you An aggressive tire, that is very quiet, and at a great price point.
Wow, sweet looking Bronco! I have not seen one of those for years. My dad used to have one and did a little off-road-racing with it.
I have 15" wheels and am looking at a 33x12.5 r15. It flexes too well for 35's to fit (I will be wheeling the pizz out of this rig). I could cut the fenders and make 35's work but until they are dented and rusted and the truck looks like dirt, that ain't going to happen lol, it's too pretty to cut sheet metal right now. Treadwright quit re-capping tires in that size or else I'd go for them in a minute, I really miss the old GY MTR pattern, really really miss it, those were great tires. The new ones just look, oblong. I'm thinking of the duratracs, as it snows a LOT here and they have the severe snow rating on them as well as being aggressive enough to do the nasty in the summer too. Thanks for the compliments, it is a nice truck.
Always down to yank jeeps out though lol, they just have to agree to a picture I actually had to drive all the way around and cross a creek and pull him out with his front bumper, he was stuck in a 4' snow drift, even though the pic doesn't do it justice. The limited slip in the rear helped a bit, but damm I need tires.
I've yet to find anything MTRs are good at other than being round and black. We call them "maximum traction reduced" They are downright terrible in mud, and not much better elsewhere. I ran a set on my truck and going to a set of Duratracs made the truck feel like it had suction cups. I wouldn't bother with Duratracs for an off road rig though. You need to be running TSLs or R1 AG tires. 33s will fit on that body style Bronco just fine with no lift, 35s with 2" or so.
It cut off and I can't edit. 35" is the biggest I'd run on the stock axles.. TTB D44 and 8.8. Put a spool in the 8.8 along with some 4.56 gears, ARB in the front, 10-12k winch and enjoy!
