So, got the taxes done today, and it wasn't as good as we hoped, but not as bad as we thought......if that makes any sense.
Got the go ahead to use some saved money and some tax money on..................a new stove.:D
    I know.......'bout damm time, right?
Looks like it might be the NC30 or something maybe up to about $1500.
That means the Ashford/Sirocco are out.
I'd love to put something in right now, to do the learning curve.
Clearance from the c/l of the stove pipe to combustibles is 15.5". I'll be putting in double wall.
I know the Englander will work, since I've gone over that manual about 1,000 times in the last couple years.
I also would like something I can keep at 500° or less, if possible (for SS). If that's unpossible, I can deal with it for a couple years, since I already know how with the Ashley.
Ok, put on your thinking caps and help me out here.

Good luck Dave. If you want only a 500 degree stove, it had best be a big one for sure as 500 is not that hot.

    Here's what I would do:

Keep an eye out for 30s dropping below $899. If you find one, pick it up. Otherwise, wait until August to pick up the stove. During that time keep an eye out for used BK Princess stoves on Craigslist.

Yep, but who needs all that heat in October or April?

CL is such a crapshoot. My luck is, I'll wait, and the price will go up.
Did you put in a damper on the 30 flue, BBar? I don't remember.
I think I'll just go get the darn thing and be done.
I've waited so long, it's burning me out trying to figure out what to get.
The hearth was built with the 30 in mind, the clearances are gooder to go, and I'd like to do my learning curve now as we're moving into the end of winter.
Unless someone talks me out of it.  Or, points me in the direction of a Princess in extremely good condition for an extremely good price.

Come to think of it, it would be nice to have more info on the IS final unveiling and price.

Don't jump for a new one now that your burn season is about over &
settle for lesser than your top choice just yet.
You have time to see it what pops up.
Just have a list of 3 or so that would work for you in order of preference .
Then watch/shop /search for a while, the top one on the list may pop up in your price range.

    Good luck :)

3 cuft of firepower plus cat control. Too bad you don't like the looks of it (I do). If you saw one in person, it may not look too bad to you. I saw a Princess at the local hearth shop, not near as bad as it looks in pics. I could stand one if I needed longer burn times.

Not sure what I would do in your situation....... I watch Craigslist like a hawk around my parts and never see any decent stoves so I have learned not to depend on it for anything but I live in a pretty rural area.

    Same here Cert.
I think I've found a couple (one that Jeff was able to get), but it's pretty slim pickins.

Toughen up there, Nancy!

Oh, come now, it's not that bad. I've bought five of my stoves off of CraigsList and I plan on buying two more.

No damper on the 30. I ran a Damper on the Vigilant and on the Hearthstone. The 30 runs fine without a damper for me.

You can buy the 30 and then search out a used Princess. When you find one, you can sell the 30 for nearly what you paid for it.
Oh, BAR just got himself a new hobby this Spring. While I'm searching out two BK Kings I'll post every Princess I come across.

Also, there could be an introductory price on the IS like they did with the PH.

The majority of the stoves I see are utter garbage that they want $300 for.

I seem to recall a really clean, $1200 Princess parlor near TC a few months ago, but somebody didn't like the look

Wsn't me lol...... Although I really don't care for the parlor look at all and my wife likes the T6 so much I think she is ready to kill me anytime I mention trying another stove. I think she would have a royal fit if I tried to remove the T6 from the living room!

Well Jeff, somebody also didn't have the money then.:( I might have dealt with the look if that were different.:)
I did find a nice looking NC30, but it was almost as much as a new one. In Roscommon, if I remember correctly.

BBar, you find a Princess in MY vicinity, and I'll consider it.
I like the idea of getting the NC30, then moving to a stove better suited to my needs at a later date. Who knows, maybe the 30 will fit the bill.
Nancy? Really? Just don't call me Shirley.
I've heard rumors that Englander is working on something new, but no real info. on what it is.

Dave, Good luck. There are so many choices. I looked 'til I was sore and finally decided, I didn't have the guts to replace my old reliable, Buck, so I just added a second new EPA stove in the kitchen, my new little Hampton. I love it. But old dogs are hard to teach new tricks :) Now I am a rare breed who loves both my 35 year old Buck AND my 3 year old Hampton........Sooooo, maybe I will just get a 3rd stove. lol.

Steve, I remember when you put the Hampton in. Nice setup.
I have no problem transitioning to a new stove, it's just picking one that has me in a quandary.:)
