3 loads to the basement. Near 1/4 cord per load. Lasts 2 to 3 weeks depending on the weather. 1st wood shed row of 2013/14 wood is gone. (16' x 17"x 7'9" ) 4 rows to go. Next row is 7'- 6" high. Yeah, you must be pretty tired of that rain thing. I know I am. If we're going to start winter, just snow already. I'm on my own when it comes to the firewood.
+1, snow better than rain Rain would make a mess. Ground froze so water will stay on top puddle up & freeze Roads will be skating rinks.
Growing up we had the stove in the basement and dad has a similar setup. I remember always being his go to guy for helping him load it through the chute. Of course most of the time he stuck me inside. Thanks for the pics dave!
Thanks Been tweaking my system for years, Almost have it optimized for my conditions. Not many insects with birch is a big plus.
Been wondering if anyone would notice Couple years ago I added the front eve to the shed. Gave me room for 1 more row of wood. That section was full with space between the rows. Not quit enough room for one more row. Took the hammer end of the maul & pounded them back till I had room for one more row of splits. Marks are sledge hammer marks.
