Depends on which ficus you mean. Ficus benjamina, commonly called weeping fig, is a popular house plant and grows well outside in Florida. Fig....fruit.... burn it! But wow, you will need a bunch to make a fire... Being from Southern California you may have access to the larger type of fig tree. If so it should burn quit well, it's in the mullberry family.

Burnt a few small sticks in my backyard fire disc…it ain’t eucalyptus but it burns good enough for camp wood.
