Nice when its fresh cut and clean. Easy on the chain. Im curious as to the heating season down in your area. Do you burn a lot in the winter? How much wood do you go through?

Burn pretty steady during the winter, especially in the mornings. It averages around 25-30 during the coldest times and we get the occasional snow and single digits at times. We usually burn around 2 cords or so. I use wood 100% for heat.

People are so good at acclimating to their conditions. We see it in ourselves processing wood all the time, right? Was out cutting in a t-shirt last weekend at 30* - felt great! But that first 30* evening in fall getting some wood moved around before dark? Out comes the hoodie and knit hat! Winter coat if sitting still. Opposite effect in summer.. After working the spring in 40-60, the first 80* day is brutal.. By August, no problem.

Rope and saskwoodburner are probably down to a t-shirt when it hits 10 the first time. :)

    Nice looking score there!

Spent about four weeks in Pascagoula during sept two years ago. Dang it’s hot and humid. I’m sure anyone who acclimated to that will feel cold at 50 LOL.
Walked into a bar in Ocean Springs. Sat under an AC duct. Saw the sign that says open 24 hours with a stack of ashtrays next to it. You should have seen the smile on my face :)

Hucks Cove is just down the street from my girlfriends moms house. I guess I actually was hanging in Gautier. Pascagoula is the other side of the river.
Spent a lot of afternoons at Hucks while Mississippi women were out doing whatever it is they do LOL

My farmer neighbor bought a 30 acre parcel next door to me. He cleared the split rail fence along the road. I got all the locust fence posts.

Amen, brother. Our northern friends can pick on us during the winter, we have our turn in the summer...tell them we cuttin' when it's 95° and they faint... can't go outside if it's over 85°...:thumbs::handshake:...

For sure. Wasn't so bad when I was a young lad but as we age, the body does not handle weather as well, especially that danged summer humidity. Walk around feeling about as sticky as a raisin; that's not for me. But then, I didn't use to mind the coldest weather in the winter but not so much any more. I guess ideal for me would be from 50 to 75.
