Had a BL that was in my way and growing on the bank next to the driveway. It had to go. Thought I would go old school and use my fiskars handsaw.

Laid it over right where I wanted.
Got about .0001 cord worth. Ready to burn next week.

    Enjoy the pics:D

I must be doing something wrong. All this talk about black locust spreading like weeds popping up everywhere and I can't seem to get any established. I planted half a dozen seedlings in full sun last month only to have them chomped off by rodents. Two weeks ago I germinated another couple hundred seeds and broadcasted them in the same area. Nothing has gotten started and I think rodents ate the seeds. Now I've got more seeds in protected pots that are just starting to sprout. I won't be surprised if they too get thrashed to death once they're transplanted out in the yard :hair: And here you are, BL sprouting in all the wrong places and you're nonchalantly cutting it down :)

    No notch this time.

Yeah they did drag it off. Not to the stacks but to chew on. Then they hit a thorn. LoL

Careful with all your planting, your yard'll be taken over with them like mine, once one dies it sprouts more tree from the roots of the dead one. X that 1000 and it's like the only thing that grows.

If you're ever in Indiana look me up you can cut and haul all you want!

Yeah, I have a problem with those stinking things too. I need a way to kill all of them without newbies showing up.

Keep those doggos well clear of any green BL. The twigs, leaves and bark can cause kidney failure in dogs and cats. The one often overlooked drawback to stashing lots of locust.
