Went to a friends house last week, cut some wood, cut some small maples down for him as well. He's the one who loaded the nice alder logs for me. Well, the other day, went into the shop, NO fiskars #25 the 28'' splitter. . Well called him up, and my other friend who was there with me. Explained my concern, and started looking for it. Looked all over the shop, looked out back, thought i'd left it up on the mountain last time i was up there. No, i remembered putting it in the very back of the pickup with the saws.

So, gave in the other day, and after much thought, and looking, decided to order another one. Ordered it on Saturday 55.95 Sat around thinking about it, tried to replay in my mind where i might have left it. Checked the shop several times, i've got a pretty fair axe collection. Continued to try to put it in the shop. looked all over the place, then, turned a little too the left, and SPOTTED IT, leaning against the bumper of the car!! The orange handle was slightly covered, and when i'd come inside the shop, it was very camouflaged by a rag no less. First thing i did was cancel my order for a new one. Made it in time, and its a done deal, was supposed to be here by this thursday. So, all in all it ended up to be a good day. Now the ole fiskar's is with his big brother the X27 and the 17'' hatchet, and the big brother 8lb maul. Its good to have the family back behind locked doors again!!

Probably every other day, except with chainsaws. They are always in the right place.
I’ve been missing a custom made hatchet and a Fiskars hatchet for years. They could be buried under splitter trash somewhere in the yard or someone permanently borrowed them.

Sounds like a normal occurence for me! Similar thing last week. Was using my Fiskars cleaver to carry rounds to the PU. Stays in the PU all the time. Went to use it next day and only sheath there. Traced my steps back to the score thinking where i used it last...at the score. I know i brought it back to the PU when i left. Had to go back and look. Checked thoughout the PU to no avail. Looked at home and at wood storage...nope. WTH am i going nuts! Later found. It had slid under the passengers seat somehow. The passengers side of the PU gets crammed with saws and stuff when back is full of wood and it was raining that day when i left the score. I can relate. Glad you ended up finding it!

It drives me bananas when I *know* I own something that I can't find....and then I'll turn the entire house upside down looking for it........only to buy it again and find it 9 months later. Glad you found it!!

So, what you're saying is you've joined another group with most of us. Welcome! You are in good company with this group, and I think you already know most of our members. Now you know they don't call us 'woodenheads' for our hoarding skills alone.

Yes I have. I spent 15 minutes looking around the garage for a red can of spray only to find it was green.

There is a 30lb pry bar painted dark green somewhere in our woods. It's well under the leaf debris at this point. One day I'll borrow a metal detector and take it for a walk.

Kinda like Unicorns I think, very rare, but said to exist. I'll get a phone call in the shop. put down whatever tool I was using, and you guessed it, it disappeared. Only to be found right where I left it.:loco:

Glad you found it before the purchase on the new one went through. Happens all the time here. Just made mention in another post about how I found a Spyderco knife a few days ago that I had 'misplaced' many years ago. Heck, I had completely forgotten about it back around 2015 and figured it was long gone. Just happened to be moving some stuff the other day and there it was. It was like reuniting with an old friend. Now if I could find the Browning range finder that was 'misplaced' several years back I would be happy.
