I have a heater known in Aussie as a Maxitile, so named due to the ceramic tiles set on each side that stay perfectly cool to touch regardless of fire severity. Its quite old and I have alway had trouble with the chimney damper jamming until it warms up. I tried to remedy many times but due to the butterfly being damaged and eroded I determined to try and rebuild it. That I did with complete success utilising bits and pieces I had including a s/s shaft.
Note also my method of moving the heater easily and safely away from its home. Im not very good at Pic posting yet but hope these make some sense. 2 flanges joined_resize.JPG DSC_2472_resize.jpg DSC_2513_resize.jpg DSC_2519_resize.jpg DSC_4272_resize.JPG DSC_4322_resize.jpg turning plates attached_resize.JPG 2 flanges joined_resize.JPG DSC_2472_resize.jpg DSC_2513_resize.jpg DSC_2472_resize.jpg DSC_2472_resize.jpg DSC_2472_resize.jpg

Right where I want to be.
    That's a nice loking stove, Ashton .
So, does the repair function as well as it looks?
Not to worry about the extra pics, it happens. If one of the mods sees this and thinks it needs moved, that's what'll happen.

Very nice work on the new plate!
I really like the ingenuity moving the stove...me thinks we will see that idea surface here again in the future!
They call that "git 'er dun" here in the states ;)
