Just wanted to vent a little, so I have the Englander pellet grill, lowes has the Summers Heat version and Home Depot has the Timberidge version. So I ran it once to "cure" it. I noticed a few issues with it. If I set it to 450, it would go past to 470 or 480. So I didn't cook on it. Today I had a chance to fire it up again and more problems. It won't preheat at all, I did my own troubleshooting and realized no fuel. It's stops feeding pellets after awhile. It looks as though the auger gets jammed or it binds up. I used 2 different brand pellets to eliminate fuel problem. Also had 2 identical legs and one is measuring shorter than the other The huge drip pan already warped during cure. For a $1200 grill, not off to great start! Also email customer service and NO RESPONSE.
It is a holiday for a lot of folks. Sucks that your having problems. mike holton is a stand up dude, and Englander customer service has always been highly regarded. Have you been back to where you bought it? Firing twice without even cooking on it, seems like they should exchange it.
My first email was over a week ago, that's a long holiday lol. I found the problem last night, the auger is binding against the auger tube. Looks like bad machining or stamping. I can fix that but let's see if they will make it worth my wild. If not like you said, lowes will order a new one no problem. It's just when your talking 400lbs moving it around isn't fun. And reassembly isn't either lol. Quality control needs to be better on high priced items.
Gotcha. Sounded like yesterday in your post. I hate it when new stuff doesn't work right. Warranty or not, it's still a disappointing PITA.
So I talked to someone in customer service....Someone is suppose to call me back regarding the issues. Let's see how it goes.
So they said they would send me replacement parts, and I could buy accessories at cost. Maybe I'll get the warming oven and cover.
Not sure, it's Terible a company can charge $1200 for a pellet grill and they don't do a quality control check before they ship. They are sending different parts to try , hopefully one of them will work. When the grill works, it's great. Of course if the temp was accurate, if the legs were equal lengths so it didn't wobble, if the auger didn't bind and cause the grill to shutdown in the middle of a smoke...it would be a perfect grill.
Sorry to hear that AAA. I went through similar with a dishwasher this winter. GE made it right in the end but it took jumping through a lot of hoops.
So Englander sent me all parts to replace what they think is wrong. I also got a reduce price on some accessories I wanted.
Having bad luck with parts coming from Englander, the auger motor came with a broken wire laying in the box. The warming oven came damaged. I must say, they have been communicating via email very well and are doing everything they can to make it right. I am still glad I got this grill....the stainless would be nice not to worry about the black paint but it's sooo much more I couldn't justify the difference.
