    Hello
    I have been seeing some Englander pellet stoves mostly 25-PDVC and 25-PDV models in towns notorious for power failures and power fluctuations and you guessed it, no surge protectors!
    I found 3 stoves that would not auto light and the igniter tested good. Since manual light is easier and cheaper than auto light it was not much of a concern. Finally I brought back a board that would not auto light to compare with a good board. Checking the voltage going to the igniter is not a good test because you always get leakage thru the Triacs. So I finally found a good accurate current tester at HD. Klein Tools model CL210 not too expensive.

    Is this a good quick control board test?
    Measuring current on other components may help too..

    So here is the test on the igniter wire in one of our shop 25-PDVC!
    Pic 1 - Board 1 would not auto light
    In Startup
    Pic 2 - Still board 1 with current tester on one igniter wire
    Current = 0.02 amps

    Pic 3 - Board 2 new board that does auto light
    In Startup
    Pic 4 - Still board 2 with current tester on the same igniter wire
    Current = 2.26 amps -- ah ha - there is the juice!
