I cut them down to like 18" lengths then tape off one end. Fill them with wood pellets then tape the other end.

Makes nice booster logs or a substitute for kindling.

Once the card board burns and the super dry wood pellets ignite they really heat up the stove.

Empty paper towels rolls are good too.

My daughter asked if I wanted toilet paper rolls , she said it as a joke.

But hey guess you could use them too.

I also figure out , I have a big metal shovel with no handle I use as a dust pan for the garage. Its like 14 or 15 inches wide. Some times I put a bunch of wood pellets on metal shovel and lets them slide off it onto the coals in the stove as since its metal I can stick it back into the stove a ways.

Lastly I have been know to throw paper cups full of pellets into the stove onto hot coals back before I figure out to use the metal shovel. I throw the cup and all into the hot stove.

I took a toilet paper roll and put a paper towel inside that I had used to microwave my bacon. I let it sit overnight and used it as a fire starter the next morning. Worked great. Was tempted to climb on the roof to see how it smelled..:D

I also used wood pellets to make a simple fire starter. I picked up at the Its Really a Dollar store those emergency candles. I would cut them into small pieces. I would take a few pieces of candle and some wood pellets. Take two paper towels lay them on top of each other for a double thickness. Lay the candle pieces and wood pellets on the paper towels , pull up all four corners to form a tear drop shape and tape off to stay closed. Makes a fairly decent fire starter and you dont have to mess with melting wax to make a fire starter which can be a pain but this lets you have a candle wax type of fire starter easy to make.

Maybe I should just start selling the BFFS (bacon fat fire starter) on Ebay. I'll make a half a million dollars and get my own reality TV show and then end up in jail for child labor laws because my kids like to help with the process. On second thought, I'll just stay here....

Beetle-kill.. I actually LIKE sleeping on the couch.. If you don't like sleeping on your couch, it's time for you to get a new couch!!;)

I've been toying with the idea of picking up a bag of pellets and doing something like this and this post just might spur me on to do it.

I mess with pellets too seeing they are so inexpensive.. I like the tube idea and wonder how a milk carton would work..

I see no reason it wouldn't work Ray. Probably a half gallon rather than a gallon though.

They burn pretty hot so if you put a bunch on hot coals better turn the stove down quickly.

I used paper towel rolls to make firestarters. I melted parrafin wax on the electric outdoor grill, added various bits of sawdust and wood shavings and spooned it into a tube taped at one end. I sliced them on my band saw when done. I made a small tamper to pack it in the tube, but I would probably not pack it so much next time to leave some air space. The batch below could have used a bit more wood chips as the density was pretty solid. They worked fine though.

I made the tamper out of a 1" round dowel and epoxied on a small plastic lid that was just a little smaller than the tube diameter. Short money for some firestarters. The wax was in the scratch n' dent shelf at the supermarket. I have a bunch of old candle bottoms I could melt too.
