this is my first chainsaw in 20 years and it has been sitting in the box in the basement for 6 weeks. a friend's mother had some trees crash on her property so we went over and got her driveway to where you could pull a car in. there's plenty more to clean up and firewood to get but we will do it in stages.
the echo is a delight. i pulled the plastic screw plugs and gave the L and H screw a quarter turn richer but didn't tune it by ear. the muffler is stock deflector in place. the saw ran beautifully, was a bit hard to use as a limbing tool which was most of the work. it's my one saw for all occasions regardless. it is easy on gas and easy on bar oil. i used canola for that and between not having aerosolized petroleum bar oil and not much exhaust it was a really pleasant experience to do the work on a warm july day. it would have been easier had my muscles been used to holding the tool so the experience should be better as things go on.
i went 3 ounces of syn to the gallon which seemed okay. now to tune it and take a look at the deflector.
all hardware becomes obsolete. my friend would have given me the husky 372 (?) back but i told him it's a gift and the new stuff has to be much better. this saw is going to be a real good firewood getter. everyone it seems seeks to get out of doing work and they are flat out insane. i can't imagine having a better time than i did today. the truck has a light load of wood and we made my pal's mom happy.

my wood cutter in its glory. getting ready to try the husqvarna filing jig for the first time. i haven't sharpened a chain in a couple decades but recall the feel and the basics. the lpx that came with the saw is still sharp, held up pretty well, which is a good time to give it a few strokes.
