Anybody interested on a build thread of this saw? This will actually be a "build along" thread since it isn't quite done yet.

Very uncoventional transfers in this saw.

Small squish band and it is cut on an angle to match the dome on the piston.

Split the case today, new bearings, seals, oil hose, gasket.

Back together, the cases had a steel race to hold the bearing, so heating the cases did little good. Just press the bearings in the case for this saw.

I can tell you I am really enjoying your build threads! Your work on the 490 was very impressive. I am looking forward to seeing what you can do with the 590. Thanks for sharing!:dex:

I got to run a brand new 590 and few weeks ago and my first thought was what a great firewood saw. Nice throttle response reasonable power and torque. For 399 it hard to go wrong.
It will be very impressive if you get simular gains as the 490 build.

There's a few people here that have these saws. I'm sure plenty will be watching this thread that own this saw.

I think the 620 carb would make a bigger difference

    Little update,

This saw will be getting an unlimited 620 coil. Maybe some carb mods.

Will be getting back into the swing soon. I can't do any cutting till crops come off, so other hobbies take priority during the hot months.

My guess is the 620 coil makes a big difference. I wonder if it could be adapted to cure the limited coil issue for the cs490?
