Got this as a runner, complete pretty decent shape compared to most I have seen. Pretty sure this is the most gunked up saw I've ever had on the bench. Gonna time the jug tomorrow, can tell exhaust is going to be a limiter, carb/intake is a bit small for 67cc. But I don't see why this can't be made close to the 044/365 crowd. It is a bit different design, but compact, mag tank. Just wish echo would vet with the program. They could have had something decent if it were in the 71-73cc class. Figured I'd start this incase anyone wants to chime in.
Gonna try and get this one done quick. Just gotta find the parts I ordered months ago lol. Think it has potential.
Echo leaves alot on the table as far as performance... how often do you hear of broken echos.... that's right you dont. They have that Japanese philosophy of earning reliability by sacrificing performance.
Yep quad port, center fed. Must be the 6700 that are dual port. Nice size intake. Exhaust is rather puny. So is the outlet, not much room to open it up. 670 piston (left) 2 rings and large windows. 680 piston right, jug looks identical, but the piston sure is choked up. .025 off the base Exhaust Roughed in. Stock numbers were In75 ex 104 tr 119 .060 squish and 150 ish comp. With .025 off and no base In78 ex107 tr123 squish .019-022, piston dome dosent exactly match the chamber, not too bad tho. I'm going with 78,101,119.
Got a couple more to build, think I'm gonna use a husqvarna piston in em from now on. Single ring, lighter cheaper. Gotta figure out which recipe works best. But once I get some more done, might be able to do a "trade in" program...
Transfers set at 119 Intake squared up just a bit, didn't want to get into the ring ends. Like a glove.. Almost... Can't find the new handle av mount, will rig something up and order another...
Pretty impressive throttle response! I don't suppose there is any chance the coil can be used on any of the newer Echo's?
1.99$ av mount, if it was black it would look more factory.lol Even have a spare set for when those wear out. 32 looks real good, seemed to pull pretty well for sub 70cc. The chain adjuster is stripped out, no brake band but once I get those fixed, I think this will make one hell of a firewood saw.
I like the idea of using a marshmallow for av! Plus nice snack when you get hungry in the woods! Seriously though Joe quality work yet again!
Hard to tell from he pic but are the transfers timed identical from the factory? Primary side to secondary is what im referring to.
Yes, they were and still are timed together. Next one needs more compression. Think the numbers are pretty close, maybe 121 on the transfers..
I think so, I plan on dropping g the jug a bunch, so the transfers will still be pretty large with more blowdown.
