So I just went through last season without any shoulder season wood and probably this coming year as well. Neighbor had a couple dying white pines removed, tree guys were more than happy to leave the rounds in my yard. First time splitting the stuff, it swallowed most of the x27 head without thinking about splitting so hydro time. I felt a lot younger chucking the light splits around. Got a little over half a cord, hopefully it dries in time for this fall.
I was caught short of s/s wood last year. I had plenty of high octane, I've grabbed some Pine as well this spring.
Get it split now and yes, it will be ready this fall. Get sticky all over you? Miracle Whip works wonders. And it just about like the old Bryll Cream. Their ads always said, "A little dab will do ya." Same with Miracle Whip. Just grab some from the refrigerator when the wife is not looking. For the saw, WD 40 will do the trick.
Thanks for the tip! I will definitely be doing the miracle whip trick the next time. I’m going to try wd 40 on the splitter tomorrow because it’s a sappy mess.
