I finally have a new cat coming for my old cat-less 1003c and have been doing more reading. I came across a picture in the manual and am confused? It shows a secondary tube and my stove does have a square tube running thru it, open on the ends. But I’ve never found holes in it inside the stove nor have I seen secondaries burning? Anyone know what’s up?

This is from the manual online.

Guess it does work? Any ideas how to improve it? Clean the holes out(that I didn’t know were there) or is it just what it is?

Cool stove. Clean out the holes for sure. Poke prod and vac I suppose. Guessing your bimetallic thermostat controlling primary air is still functioning? I have a buddy with one that has it disabled. That stove still puts out tons of heat. Let us know how the Cat install/operation goes. I am surprised nobody else has chipped in. Will this be your first experience operating a cat equipped stove? There are some do's and dont's that go along with them. Most are likely covered in the operator's manual. Lots of those stoves available to this day in my neighborhood. Just a bit east of you. Good luck.
