I just got to the bottom of one bay of my shed. It is a dirt floor, very dry, and powdery dusty soil.

Does anyone have any ideas of what to use for dust control? Amazon has a 3M spray. Thanks for the help and discussion. image.jpg

That's more for hard surfaces I believe.

Back in the old days people would spray their used motor oil on the ground for dust control...these days I suppose something like Green Gobbler Dust Down is more responsible...

Then there’s this that happened when a subcontractor who was paid to get rid of waste oil decided to put it all over the town roads to keep the dust down, without knowing what was in it….

Used motor oil is bad enough...that was full blown industrial waste though!

Yep, industrial waste mixed with oil. Can’t entirely blame the yokel that put it on the roads though. He seemed pretty clueless what he was disposing of since he put it down on his personal horse corral (eventually killing his own horses) But yeah, oil is not a good idea to keep dust down.

My thought too… perhaps on top of some landscaping cloth (not plastic) and keep the splits clean as possible when loading the bin- punkiness, loose bark, etc will clog up rock and eventually disappear it under an ever growing layer of decaying and dusty firewood detritus.

Could try the old southern method. Buy bags of Portland cement and mix it all in with the dust/dirt. Run a lawn sprinkler on it and let it harden for a week. Or if you want it to stay loose rake it around again.
I havent tried any of this but would be willing to listen to the story of your attempts LOL

Yes, this looks promising. Rock is hard to rake wood debris off of and spreads everywhere eventually into lawn equipment.

That’s a good question. The only thing I seen on their website is 2 phone numbers. 1 for US and one for international.
I have not used the stuff, the only way I knew about it is the summer before last there was a major dirt construction project here. In this sand soil, blowing and erosion was a major concern so they applied this stuff by the ICBS totes full (mixed with water I’m sure) I was able to snag the empty totes. I’d heard the workers talking about gorilla snot and thought that was just a fun name they gave it …. Until I seen the labels on the totes.
I’ll try to check and see if there is a legible label left on any and see if there’s any more contact info.
Don’t know if it can be had in lesser quantities like a 5 gallon bucket.

Just looked at their website again and if you scroll down far enough there’s a place to submit an inquiry. Looks to be an outfit that serves industry. Also looks like several products that might do what you need. It can’t hurt to inquire.
I’ll check the totes for a label
