I hit the like button even though every fiber of my body does not like that situation!! DANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Think that was the lower trunk or another piece launched from a seesaw action under the brush pile?

That’s a great post! We must always remember how dangerous cutting down trees are.

I've witnessed chunks getting "catapulted" backwards several times on jobs we do, one piece went backwards almost 60 yards and through the guys front window!!!

Expect the unexpected when doing this kind of work!!

I have experienced that situation once myself with a dead widow maker. Unfortunately at the time my helmet was sitting in the back of my truck instead of on my head.

I only had time to turn my head and took the majority of the impact in the shoulder, but it still rang my bell pretty well. What did not help was I had a good hangover from a wedding I had attended the day before so I wasn’t thinking straight to begin with.

Needless to say I ALWAYS wear my helmet now!

Patience is the best. Let mother nature take them down.

Don't look at it as being patient. Just look at it as the best option to let Mother Nature do the work. If all else fails throw a rope around it as high as you can get it and pull it down.

    EDIT: using a vehicle.
