Buddy of mine has one that I have been around since the install. Kick ar_se stove. Very capable of heating a good sized area. Lots of punch if required. Impressive tube stove burn times. Super effective/easy primary air control. Sweet secondary show. Priced right. If you would like first hand confirmation, or have questions I can get you in touch with him. The HT2000 I am around was doing 9-10 hr runs on questionable wood varieties/moisture content. Likely would do better on higher quality fuel. If you are guessing I am impressed with this model..... You are correct! On the other hand. Same buddy pulled it from his house and put it in his 2 stall man cave (overkill but very warm while carousing about!). His house is now heated with a BK Princess (he had to try one!). Basically he gained the ability to start heating with wood much earlier in the season and keep it going later. Using less wood. More time to be away from the house for work. The usual cat stove arguments. Yada Yada. Which are true.
Thanks for the insight. How is ash drawer set up if you know- Nc 30 just hangs there and when pushing ash into tends fly all over as it is not sealed. There was or/ perhaps still is a Princess on Madison CL- I have to double check as it might be the insert model. New to me house no wood stove , heat by propane. just filled tank, Ouch. 50 mi outside the metro area.
My buddy does not use his ash drawer. Simple scoop. Propane sucks. Entire reason we went to wood burning.
We have one here in Southern Ontario it heats this old farm house well I have to admit when the wood is dry it does a good job and little ash. It also depends on how you stack the wood in the stove as to if you get a hot burn or a long burn. Hot burn put wood in with the ends towards the door.Long burn put end on the sides as it burns from the door backward. The only thing I think is strange is that it does not have automatic air damper.
Chris, I see you have an NC 30. Just curious as to your interest in the HT2000??? I was looking very hard at this stove also but when the NC 30 HD deal for $519 bucks came along I jumped on it. I was down to the HT2000 or the NC 30 for what I was looking for. Very comparable stoves. Size, cost, heat output etc; from what I had seen. Both get great reviews too. There are some reviews on Youtube on the HT but everyone is happy with a new stove when they post up their vids. I haven't read anything but good reviews on them though.
