I was at a Napa auto parts store today getting parts to fix my truck. I saw a chainsaw out of the corner of my eye. Thought cool they sell saws now. Took a double take and thought neat its a Dolmar.

I walked over to take a closer look at it. But it didn't say Dolmar on the recoil cover. Not sure how to pronounce the name on the recoil?? Or even spell it?? It was red & black and looked JUST like a Dolmar 5105, every last detail, the bar even had the grey paint with black stripes, but didn't say Dolmar on the bar either.

Does Dolmar sell saws under another label or is someone making Chinese (there was lots of Chinese type writing on the id stickers) knock offs or look a likes? I was in a hurry to get somewhere else so I didn't have time to ask any questions. Maybe if I have time tomorrow I might stop back in and snap a pic or two of it.

Has anyone saw one of these before?

Makita owns Dolmar and has most Dolmars as Makitas.

They are a medium blue body and could have a off white or possibly black top

A chainsaw company by the name of "Solo" designed the 5105 family as well as the 6400 family of saws

The have their own models and the colors are close to Dolmars.

A Solo or a Dolmar will remind you of the other one . . .

It is not a Makita or a Solo, I know of both of those brands.

I stopped by the Napa after I dropped my daughters off at school. It's a Maruyama (I figured out the spelling now that I have a pic of it) it looks just like a Dolmar 5105 to me. It's more of an orange then red now that I looked at it again today.

The cheap Stihl knock offs I seen on the internet, when I look at them, it's like really that thing looks like some cheap POS and about the only similarities is they are orange and white.

I am telling you this Maruyama looks just like a 5105, every detail. I am not sure if Maruyama is affiliated with Dolmar? Or if they buy them from Dolmar and re-badge them, but this does not look like a copy to me. The sticker on the tank says Maruyama industries Japan.

I meant to take a pic of the front case and muffler area, but forgot. Here is a Maruyama I just found on eBay, there is a pic of the front case and muffler. Note the box pic on the eBay listing, it says Maruyama made in Germany.

Here are the pics of the one at my local Napa,

    That's pretty much looks like a 5105?

It might actually be more like a 510 price point saw?

From what I read in those posted links, the Maruyama MCV51 is more like a Dolmar 5105 than a 510.

You dont wanna know, way to high. but I'll tell you anyways, they told me $525 for it. Way more then you can find a 5105 for online. Keep in mind though I live in a isolated area they are the only game in town and mark their prices up. If you shop around online you can find the 5105 for $450-475.

I am sure if I went to the big city,,, Denver I could find a Maruyama for cheaper. I poked around on Google today and there is a few Maruyama dealers in Denver.

I would like to have a Dolmar, but I think I am going get a 6100.

There is a dealer on my site that has full wrap 6100 and reg. They both are in the 500range. Just sold 2 to a friend of mine I pointed to him.

The dust on that saw shows that they are overpriced.

    Buyer beware on those saws..

I bought my 5105 when they first came out and it was $350 + tax at a dealer. The price went up considerably a year later. I have more than that in it for I bought a new 5100 non cat muffler for it soon after I bought the chainsaw.
