This is just crazy! Dolly is an American treasure, a legend as a person and a country music performer. I can't believe they're considering her for induction into the rock and roll hall of fame. Dolly has politely requested to be removed for consideration, saying "I don't feel that I have earned the right" and it would be like putting AC/DC into the country music hall of fame.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame won't pull Dolly Parton from ballot: 'We are in awe of Dolly'

I guess they thought “9-5” was more rock than country…

Yes, call me a cranky old man! But with the crap they call music today nothing would surprise me and she probably would belong there before any of this new junk. Do we have a video of her singing Highway to Hell? AC/DC RULZ :dex:

Hey cranky old man! I agree! :thumbs::dex:

She also said, "I’m not expecting that I’ll get in. But if I do, I’ll immediately, next year, have to put out a great rock and roll album — which I’ve wanted to do for years, like a Linda Ronstadt or Heart kind of thing." I would to see her on stage with Heart, Ann and Nancy Wilson! That would be interesting. :dex:

I believe it had nothing to do with her music. I think it was her political beliefs that got her the consideration, much like the Nobel Peace Prize is gifted to whomever now. Still like most of her music. Being in a hall of fame means nothing to me. Dolly is a smart business woman for sure.

From what I read, it has to do with the influence her music had on rock, as some other country performers that are already in the rock hall of fame. I think country performers in the hall are more political in itself, than their body of work, which I don't agree with. I think halls of fame should stick to their genre, it takes away from the institution for what it was intended. Dolly is smart, she has carefully cultivated her image and career, to not only her fans, but the general public also.

She has cultivated her image for sure. For many years now. I don't see how she influenced rock music, but I'm no rock music expert. What is refreshing about Dolly is her humility.

I don't know how she influenced rock either, my personal feeling, is they're trying to cash in on her name. I'm a rock fan, and I don't like it, but don't get me wrong, I love Dolly. The rock hall should respect her wishes to not be included, she's country through and through.

IMO, the R&R HOF is running out of people/groups that are worthy to be inducted. So, they have to branch out to other musical genres.

She told them she wouldn't accept a nomination, but they nominated her anyway.

IDK, a bunch of rappers, hip hop, soul and R&B are in there, so why not country or pop. Two Door Down, Joshua and 9-5 (and probably others) have a pop vibe to them.

BTW, it bugs me how whenever Dolly is on the news, they only play 'Jolene". She 25 #1 songs, including the ones I mentioned before - use some of them please.

One of the greatest humanitarians out there. Always looking to do for others and does it all so humbly. I hope she lives as long as Betty White
