    It's officially hot Downunder today!

I decided to take the infrared temperature probe for a walk out around the stacks.
This is what I found. My River redgum is the hottest probably because of the darker colour and full sun.

Golden wattle out in good sun was next.

And Stringy bark eucalyptus in partial sun.

With the humidity at 10% whatever wood I have that is not already seasoned will certainly be getting there quick.

I took this pic at 1am on July 1st last year.

That's the coldest I have ever known it to get around here.

This was the same redgum stack as above at 8am on July 1st.

I know it's nothing compared to what you blokes are dealing with right now.

Well, you don't have iguanas falling out of trees like in South Florida.

Heat & low humidity should make for some fast seasoning time

Will it all be ready to burn this season ?

Certainly. I tested some of the River redgum last week with my new moisture meter and it's at 16%.

I have had another moisture meter for about a year but the four range settings are all calibrated for species that you blokes up in the northern hemisphere have.

I found a new one at Bunnings (Aussie version of Home Depot) that said it was calibrated for Australian wood so I just had to have it, then of course I had to make some splits and test it out.

It doesn't really matter anyway because I am on the three year plan!

Can't even imagine what that kind of heat would be like. @100° here in the sun some summers. I'm about ready to pass out.
You most Definately have the hottest stacks that I know of.
    Congratulations !!

I do not know which one is worse the heat you have there or the cold we have here.

I am with Cold Trigger Finger on this one: I can handle the cold better than the heat.

You got the hottest stacks though that is for sure!

We had a couple days around 100 here last summer but it has been a long time since I remember seeing that hot. I don't mind the heat especially if there is water to get in close by.

Not really stacks (yet) but we’re sitting right around 0*F currently, and the wood probably isn’t much warmer than that. Looks like a warming trend next week into the 30s, so I’ll get out and turn a bunch of those rounds into splits for future burning seasons.

Frost only on the sap wood, kinda neat looking. Guess that means it's not dry yet?

True! I guess one good benefit from this extended cold is that it might help kill some of the invasive critters down in Florida, like the Tegu lizard and iguana, but mainly the dang Burmese Pythons.
