...hey, hoarders. Justdraftn here. Don't post much of my wood adventures because it is just getting the big pallet wood from the metal store. Not very exciting. ...but, it's easy, close and free. Wanted to show you my latest wood adventure. I needed to prune some big limbs off my ash tree. Starting to hang overpower line. Tree service wanted $450....say what? for this little job. So, I started looking at pole saws. Some off ladder cutting and some off the house roof. I don't really have a lot of use for a full-time pole saw. In the search I started looking at small E chain saws. I could use one of those. ...so, I got an 8" e saw. It's a pretty handy tool. Requires a lot of tinkering w/ and the manual oiler is pretty worthless. I can deal w/that. Now, the pole saw: I used my dad's old manual pole saw. Created a bracket...holder...adapter???? for the e saw and attached it to the old pole. Works great in the mostly vertical position. For horizontal work had to employ a bit of physics and created a fulcrum to reach out. Works well. Got the job done. Thoughts/comments/suggestions.... On a very sad note: my big ash tree will be in the woodshed one of these days. EAB. Maybe last one more year. This is really going to hurt. It shades the house in the afternoon from the really blazing sun. I'll see you on the road.
