As I said on last post new to wood heat last year I bought stove and had to buy wood got it just before thanksgiving no time to find cut and split I bought and burned 3 cords I took pics of chimney from bottom and top the pics I'll add are from top down before and after and pile of creosote when done single story ranch house straight pipe
Burning sub par wood does happen plenty often for new burners. In this case, one should at least check there chimney once a month imo. I'm on a phone, but it does look like a fair amount. How long is your chimney, and how was the cap? I do also see harmless fly ash in the pipe.
Yep, kinda depends on the pipe length, but that's a bit, and a little black/crunchy. To be expected with less than ideal wood. Pipe didn't look too bad, but like WS asked, how was the cap?
No I think I did good... I think I bought 3 4 ft fiberglass rods and the brush made it the whole way apparently I have to pay more attention to the cap lol
You're doing VERY well, especially for a beginner! Are you running the stove hot or just mediocre? That could explain what little bit of creosote you have there. Lower stack Temps or even a weaker draw (due to the milder outdoor temps) can account for that kind of mild build-up. At any rate, that's not bad at all.
