I can buy one for $799 brand new from Lowes. Just wondering if it will be strong enough to split all my big knotty rounds of post oak and black jack oak and white oak that is all super knotty and about 30" across??
Hog_Hunter_57 I have a "Champion" Brand 22T- worst cold starting motor ever! I used a 3/4" socket on my 1/2" hammer drill(corded, 120v, hammer turned off) to get it started in the ultra cold this winter. BUT, I split some of the most stingy, twisted, knotted 30-36" pecan- some tough crap! Granted we had up to 40" rounds of it, we just couldn't move it around at the splitter in vert position. You gotta have a quick ear on the big stuff, listening for sudden bogging/ tendency to stall is eminent if you don't catch it in time.
I love mine but to be fair it's a real pain in the tukas to start if its cold out.. Very good splitter aside from that.....
So the Kohler motor is hard to start when its cold well that's OK in the respect I try to do all my splitting when its warm I am starting now for two years from now. I know it does not have a lift but at this point in my life I can roll the big ones and split them vertical. But my other question is will it take a four way splitting wedge?
