So we had some storms come in last night and took out this dead elm in the backyard. Well it feel and barely missed the garden by a foot or 2 but good news it I got a bunch of “dry” elm to process right in the backyard which is awesome because 95% of my wood I have to scrounge.

Nice! That’s the best elm IMO. Get it cut to length and processed and a summer of drying should be enough to burn it next season.

No damage and ready to process. Good luck there.

Excellent! Also the advice above is good. Yet, the top part of the tree is probably dry enough to burn next fall or winter.

I got most of the tree marked out to firewood length so tomorrow I will start cutting and cleaning it up

I bet the top of that tree will be burnable even right now. I processed a lot of dead standing elm. A lot could be split and burned that day.
