The old lady's birthday is coming up and Dad got his hands on some old church pews. So we decided to plane the veneer off and route a drip tray in it. A nice coat of linseed oil and it's looking pretty good. Measures 16x12.

Super nice! That would run you over $75 here and still wouldn't be as thick or nice!

I would hate to cut on it and ruin the finished look. Lovely piece of wood.

That looks great, is it Oak? I paid $50 bucks for mine and it's got no drip channel, I don't think I can add one due to the way it's constructed. Don't mind the dog in the pic I can't do anything without them.

Yep, it's oak. No real finish on it, just linseed oil.

Any idea what product was used to glue the wood together? Looks really nice. Always good to repurpose stuff.

I could ask, if my parents don't know I bet grandma would- she lived a block from that church. If nothing else my uncle should know, he bought the place.

I have no idea what they were glue together with.

Some glue is water resistant, some not. Also there may be an issue if it safe with food. I've seen some older thing separate when it got wet. The item used never being intended to get wet. Time will tell.
