So got out this weekend and did some cutting and splitting of a bunch of logs that had been piled up that were not sawmill worthy. Some maple, ash, hickory and walnut.

I didnt get a picture when we started, but this was about halfway thru the pile. Dads cutting some hickory with his MS261. You can see in the background the sawmill, cabin, and saw logs off to the right.

Here is when we were almost finished. You can see dad in the background running the splitter
    File_000 (2).jpeg

My pup, Autumn, made it in this picture. She was playing in the creek even tho it was 30F out.

Here is a video of my trusty 361 cutting up some white ash.

A video of the pto splitter, splitting a normal piece of wood. Notice the gage barely gets above 200 psi:

Now the splitter essentially cutting thru a knotty piece. Gage goes over 1500 psi:

I have quite a bit more wood to clean up this year so i will keep adding to this thread.

Great to be able to cut, split, and stack all in one place! You and your Dad got a lot done.

Yeah we moved all the logs there as it wasnt muddy. Hasnt been quite cold enough here to freeze things up good.

Thanks! Seems like most of the job is getting the wood where you can process it sometimes lol

Yeah, most years I have the same issue but have a good spot this year. Easy to get to the trees after I fell them. I did order this gorillaback log lift yesterday, looks pretty sweet and excited to try it out. Should help get the wood loaded and back to the wood yard.

Mine isn’t in yet but pulled this off the internet. They write it for 250 pounds, I talk to the owner of the company and he said that was an ASME requirement and it would do approximately 65% more than that but he can’t write it for that. I ordered the attachment to hook it to the back of my truck receiver also. A little pricey, I’m sure I could fab one myself but sometimes it’s easier to just shell out the cash and be done with it

Just watched a vid of that lift. That looks pretty sweet. I will be eagerly anticipating your thoughts and review after you throw some big heavy rounds at it!

Great video. Bought a barely used 361 last Summer and im starting to favor it over my 261 as my go to saw. Came with 18 & 22" bars but have never run the 18" on it.

Had the week between christmas and new years off and made it down to the cabin to cut some wood. Here is how the first morning started off, with ice and snow all over the tractor. She was cold and lonely lol. It was about 25F out all day, perfect firewood weather for me.
    File_006 (1).jpeg

So i had a maple tree that i cut down last year and didnt get finished. I actually stopped work on it as my pup got hit by my log splitter (long story), luckily she walked away from it. The stuff lower on the hillside was alot of smalls.
    File_004.jpeg

Worked my way up the hill and cut up one of the big limbs from the tree. Its amazing when you look in the snow how far the saw throws chips. Used the tractor forks to move some of the brush out of the way in the right side of the picture.

    File_005.jpeg

Got it all split up and piled. You can see in the background the pile down the hill. I always set my bar oil on the hydraulic fluid tank so that it pours on the cold days.

    File_001 (1).jpeg

There was one big round from the butt of the log that i had left. You can see the buttresses sticking out here. This one reminded my back how much i dont like big rounds.

    File_000 (3).jpeg

Moved back down my hill to cut up a poplar top for some camp fire wood. There wasnt alot here so only one picture. My trusty 361 with 20" bar is in the picture.

    File_000 (4).jpeg

More pics to come as i have a couple of maple tree tops to cut up here soon..........

Thats a great find, i wish i had another one lol. For logs up to 20", its my bucking saw. Anything under 10", i use my 261 or my little top handle. The 441 takes care of all my felling.

What is your top handle model Spencer ?
Normally the 261 and my MS194 top handle are my go to's. 20" bar on 261.
My 460 went down last Summer as a tree landed on it (dont ask) so i had no big saw. FHCer in Connecticut had the 361 and didnt like it so bought it from him. He bought it "used" from a guy that bought it new and never cut wood with it. The saw has maybe 20 tanks of mix through it total.

The 192 is one of their lightest saws. Id love to find a rear handled one with a 12" bar to replace my 170.

she hit the doorstep today , assembly was super easy and straightforward. I have some rounds to try it on this weekend and will post a review of it.
