Assuming I was going to start doing a lot of splitting vertically, I would of course find a milk crate to sit on. Next comes a nice cushion. I know a boat cushion would be serviceable but I want to be truly accessorized. I think maybe an embroidered cushion with camp fires and trees but I'm not sure. As my Wif says, I need to tie it all together! I am asking the group for suggestions and hopefully pictures so I can split with style.
true...just get one of those seats that go on a 5 gallon bucket...don't even need to stop for potty breaks!
Well I'll chime in here but amateur cutter we'll just have to wait for the expert. It's barely visible in the following video but you can see part of it. I've found nothing better than a hunting hot seat. First, it is usually cold when I split wood and the thermal is great for sitting on and keeping the backside warm. Also keeps one from getting waffle butt. btw, I was splitting dead elm there.
Must be waterproof and easy to clean, in other words not fabric. I made mine with a piece of foam cushion 2" thick, slightly bigger than the milk crate and I hand sewed the cover for it out of a piece of tonneau cover from a truck that was damaged. Both the cushion and pad are always bungee corded to the splitter when it's not in use so it doesn't run away.
Yeah but if you happen to go inside for whatever reason and it starts pouring then it gets soaked for a long time.
Watch yard sales and roadside trash pickups. Those mats they have for floating in a pool work great. Some are about 2 inches thick, waterproof and the right price. Expensive to buy new but people toss them all the time because they "look bad". By the way, they are awesome to have in full size to work on stuff that is on the ground. Saves your knees and does fine even on gravel, expanded metal or decking.
I have the perfect foam for your needs... PM your addy and I’ll send you a chunk if you wish, you add the final touches.
I use a food grade bucket stuffed full of rags. It fits my scrawny little butt pretty well and has enough give to be comfortable enough for the amount of time I’m sitting on it. I can swivel without leaving cheese grater marks in my butt since the top is nice and smooth. And no whoopie cushion to keep track of.
I like it! I do have a couple boogie boards that are starting to get scroungy lookin too! They may have just gotten a new job!
