He pointed out a long time ago the one with some things he wanted included. Specifically de-cock. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09LRDJ837/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The recurve he used for most his life he would buy extra arrows and sometimes he bought special tips or blunts and had to restring it. I made him a camo fleece sleeve for it eons ago along for one for his grunt tube). So this is splurge Birthday gift, then I can get some accessories for Father's Day (rethought the deep fryer and decided no, he wouldn't appreciate it), and then more accessories at Christmas. BTW, I have Cabela's gift cards to spend. Thank you friends.
Ravin. But I just clicked the link, and that looks like a souped up one too....so disregard the ravin...or not...
I second the target and string wax (I picked up a crossbow target years ago since most archery targets won't stop a crossbow bolt). Also add in extra bolts and some decent broadheads (I use fixed blades with great results). Depending on how far he has to walk to where he'll be hunting, a sling is an option as well (I have one but never use it). A few links below to some things that eventually end up with your crossbow gear (broadhead box, broadhead sharpener, and broadhead wrench). Edit: For some reason the forum is not acknowledging my Amazon links (weird), so here are the Amazon item numbers: Plano broadhead box - B000P3YTRW Smith's broadhead sharpener - B001CWL7IY Allen Company broadhead wrench - B0007TAJ0K
IT'S A HIT! We gave it to him early, figured he'd want to read about it maybe try it this weekend. We were checking on this in 2020, was out of stock for months and months and it feel off the radar. I haven't seen him this excited and happy surprised about a gift in eons, yay! I'll get his preference on bolts and broadheads and a case after he gets a feel for it, and a different quiver on the way for Father's Day. We'll see on the quiver, he said with this bow he shouldn't need more than 3 bolts...
Most crossbow quivers hold four bolts. I carry three with broadheads and one with a field/practice tip (I don't have a decocker on my Excalibur, so I throw the crossbow target in the truck when I go hunting and fire the bolt with the field tip at the end of the hunt if I didn't get anything).
