I finally got the Craigslist Mt Vernon hooked up. I installed it like this because the wife and I don't want to have the stove take up space in the off season. I just made a replacement window,so I can remove it when I want. The window is 4 inches thick and insulated. My last stove was on the main floor and I did the same thing. The inspector thought it was such a great idea he was going to do it to his too. This one is installed in the walkout across from the stairs going to main floor.
Robert can you explain more about that installation and venting config? Having a hard time seeing what's going on from that picture. Looks like it initially goes through a piece of wood cutout that's cut the same width as and installed below the window, then it goes up behind the real window and out through / into what? Do you have any more pics?
I actually made a window and it's 4 inches thick instead of just 1.5 inches. You can also see the window latch is installed on the fake window too. It's a standard duravent kit.
