Does anyone have experience with crabapple for firewood? Good heat? Good coals? Odor? Smoke? Enlighten me if you don’t mind. Thanks in advance.

Its wood, not good, burns fast when dry never enough of it to make a difference. Dry it burn it.

Hmm, it's in the same genus as apple, so it should be a lot better than that. I've got some that I'll be splitting probably this weekend, so I'll let you know in 3 years how well it burns.;)

Apple. From all that I've seen. Apple is high BTU wood.

That’s what I’m hoping for. Like you, I won’t know for at least a year.

When my brother and I were kids we would put crab apples in the road to see cars then run them over. Simple things for simple kids. I miss those days.

Way back in the 50's when I was just starting school, we would walk by this crab apple tree in this guys yard. He said we could have the apples that fell on the ground. To us, that sounded like an invitation to shake the tree to get the apples on the ground.
We filled our pockets and ate them on the way home from school. Great simple pleasures.

I use crabapple in my smoker . I’ve only used it for pork , but I wouldn’t hesitate to use it for other meats
