Is now the time to buy? -or wait a few more weeks? Went down to Denver today to get out of the house and air out the dawgs. Not many people out, anywhere. Dropped by the dealership I had made contact with yesterday, unannounced of course. Didn't want to let them see me coming. When they pulled the car around for our inspection, it was a little dusty, not dripping water from a quick power wash. Nice ! The vehicle is what we want, they dropped the already decent price by $500 in the first response. I have not counter offered as of yet. So I'm just curious how low I can insult them with my counter, to find an agreeable price ? As follows- 2019 Honda CR-V, EX trim with everything available. Mileage- 591. Certified Pre-owned. They are asking $26.6, dropped $500 right off the bat. Think I could get to $25.5?, or lower? I hate car shopping.
Dropping a thousand off from a 26 thousand dollar vehicle would not be offensive. I say go ahead and ask. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk
It's the 1.5L turbo. It had issues in the 17/18 models with fuel encroachment in the oil, but that's been rectified. Or so I've read.
Tell em' $24.5 out the door. Of course they will tell you they can't do that...................... tell em' "You got my number, give me a call when your ready".......then go home and sit by your phone. With what is on the horizon for the economy, I'll bet they take it.
Beat them down as much as you can, stand your ground. Figure out the number you want and tell the you will pay x no more. End of the month is when they will give the best deals to make the numbers look good.
FWIW In 2009 during the recession I purchased (for work) a Dodge 3/4 ton with a Cummins. I paid ~60% of the MSRP! Don’t be in any hurry to purchase, buy new as manufacturers are going to start offering incentives and lots of them to move vehicles if this last any length of time. My $0.02, I’ve seen predictions of 30+% unemployment and maybe considerably higher that the great depression of 1930’s. It should be short lived. Factors to take into account are inventory on hand, in 09 manufacturers were still building cars and had to make sales even at a loss to make it through recession. Economic impact of Covid-19 currently is MUCH worse than 2008-2010 recession we should bounce back quickly but 1/3 of Americans will be or are out of work most of them live paycheck to paycheck it will take months to years for them to recover, same with the economy.
Like JustWood said, I'd throw out a really low number. I mean try to shock them. Why not? I can't imagine they're getting to harass many people lately who walk onto the lot, so i would think it's a bit of a buyers market. Their business, like most, has to be suffering. And they have already up-marked a vehicle like that by thousands.
That's because they are too lazy to work and too stupid to steal......................................
Beetle, I just bought a 17 truck from a "one price" dealership. I had also bought my previous (RAV4) from the same dealership. This is my offer. this vehicle is ready to be wholesaled by you and that is why I offered what I did. He grabbed it again and came back and said "we aren't making any money on this one" and also "I probably won't get a paycheck this week" I laughed and said, you are still making money and you'll get paid. These are lines I've heard from dealerships before." Regarding the 17 truck....same dealer, different sales manager. They offered their one price vehicle at -1K right off the get go and wanted me to sign right then and there. Took the offer home, it was decent, then called them up a week and a half later and offered 1500 less. they called back and said OK, but no certified warranty....if you want the warranty, it'll be 1000 less. I know they have a little extra room on used vehicles (this one was a leased return) as opposed to new vehicles. You have nothing to lose by low-balling them....this deal will be to your advantage, not theirs! If they don't accept your offer, shake their hand and tell them thank you for saving me $27K! Don't be in a hurry, this sickness will be around another month or tow and the recovery for the economy is going to be even longer. Wait them out and hide your enthusiasm!
