Washing Dishes with Coldwater: A MUST READ!Can Cold Water Clean Dishes? This is for all the germ conscious folksthat worry about using cold water to clean.

John went to visit his 90 year old grandfatherin a very secluded, rural area of Saskatchewan ..

After spending a great evening chatting the night away, the next morning John's grandfather preparedbreakfast of bacon, eggs and toast.

However, John noticed a film like substance on his plate, and questioned his grandfather asking,

    'Are these plates clean?'

    His grandfather replied,

'They're as clean as cold water can get em.Just you go ahead and finish your meal, Sonny!'

For lunch the old man made hamburgers.

Again, John was concerned about the plates,as his appeared to have tiny specks aroundthe edge that looked like dried egg and asked,

'Are you sure these plates are clean?'

Without looking up the old man said,

'I told you before, Sonny, those dishes are asclean as cold water can get them. Now don't youfret, I don't want to hear another word about it!'

Later that afternoon, John was on his way to a nearby townand as he was leaving, his grandfather's dogstarted to growl, and wouldn't let him pass.

John yelled and said, 'Grandfather, your dog won't let me get to my car'.

Without diverting his attention from the football gamehe was watching on TV, the old man shouted!

'Coldwater, go lay down now, yah hear me!'

    Meet Coldwater !

That's a little different version of it than what I heard...funny every time either way though.
The way I heard it was that some poor ole cabin dwelling mountain folks invited the preacher man over for Sunday dinner. As the meal progressed preacher kept remarking on how clean and shiny the dishes and silverware were, the old ladys reply always the same "yup, clean as Coldwater can make 'em"... after dinner was over, preacher man thanks them for their hospitality, then stands up to leave, as he steps out the door he overhears the old man whistle and call for Coldwater to come clean the dishes :bug:

I guess it depends on what type of dog "Coldwater" is! My golden would be like your version, he doesn't leave a single crumb behind and sometimes I think he's trying to lick the paint off plates just to make sure it isn't food!! My beagle/GSD/lab mix is like the rottiman's version, she gets the big chunks, but leaves everything else.
