I have an Echo CS520 and I need to replace the sprocket but I don't know how to remove the clutch. Any ideas IMG_20140127_101518_090.jpg

You need a piston stop like a bit of rope pushed into the cylinder through the plug hole. Make sure you get the piston in the right spot where it will be coming up to mash the rope. I don't like metal piston stops and don't trust the plastic ones. You can tank a flat punch and hit on one of the 3 prongs there with a hammer or make a tool that will grab them. I've made a tool to use on huskies that is flat bar with small holes drilled I can drop bolts into and it catches on the clutch.

After working as a Harley Tech for 10 years, I'm not a big fan of banging on any flywheel output shafts sideways or at all... Knock the flywheels out of true and also put flat spots in the bearings and egg the seal... Now you have an air leak and seized motor .. By the right tool and you can even torque the clutch back on to the right inch pounds torque spec... Ebay has all kinds of tools cheap!

Head over to your local saw shop and they can buzz it off real quick. I didn't have a flywheel puller for my 660 when I rebuilt it and that's all I did.
I don't do a TON of business with them, but they know me by name and treat me good. I buy all my saw stuff through them for that reason, even if it's a bit more $$.

Yes almost all saws are left handed thread.

Ok well now the pics loaded up for me. Huh that is a weird setup. To change the chain drive sprocket you have to pull the clutch off?!

Also I don't jam up the piston to pull them off on the Stihls. I just leave the spark plug in and buzz the clutch off with the impact gun. They aren't on all that tight, I usually just use my 3/8" gun.

Outboard clutches are common on a lot of the smaller husky 60cc and down a few stihls. Most of the older saws are made like that.
