Last few days I have been working on getting the seasoned outside wood into the woodshed. The right side was still full so have been filling the left. Loaded in about a cord today to work off a few calories. Then felt a bit peckish so I immediately went inside and knocked off a huge helping of apple pie the Wif had made so I am probably back to zero loss again. Should finish the shed with the Doug Fir/Locust/Madrone/ maple/ cherry under the tarp. That will leave about 2 cords of Doug Fir and one and a half of Deodar/Fir mixed outside. I am back to thinking about selling the Deodar. If I score a large scrounge of better wood, I probably will. At any rate, I am making big dents in the stacks. Will feel great to have the shed full!
Nice job metalcuttr . I'm just about done resplitting the rest of the Ash and getting it in the shed. That'll be 2 years in there. About 6-7 more trips should do it.
Great job. Wish I had room for a wood shed. Of course I'd want one that held 10 cords, so I guess that's why I don't have one.
I don't think I could take a perfect cube like that apart without feeling a little sad. Nice work metalcuttr !
Your stack are works of art metalcuttr ! Isn't it a great feeling to have the wood in the shed and know you are ready for whatever winter will bring?
Very neat and aesthetic stacking!! Madrone, locust, maple, Doug fir, and cherry that's some heavy hitting BTU.
Beautiful stacks, Mr. Russ, just like your metalwork, nice and neat. You should stay warm for awhile.
Looks great metalcuttr and you have my vote for the best looking wood stacks on the forum. Now about that apple pie... I'd do the same and eat it up before it spoils! btw, if you'd get rid of some ladders and other things you'd have more room in the woodshed.
I can get about 6.5+ in this shed if I stack into the top of the rafters. Wif was saying the same thing. At least the first 4 rows are next years wood and we get to look at them a while! I'll feel that shortly PLUS I get to start filling the space I've made with new wood! That is already in the shed or under the tarp. One thing I have learned is that hardwoods, at least the Madrone, locust and cherry are tougher to stack that most Fir because of the twisty grain and shapes. Thanks Jeff. Not exactly up to your scale of wood volume but don't have the room! She made three pies so my work is cut out for me! What a luxury to have a cup of coffee and a slice of apple pie in the wee hours of the morning before the Wif gets up. You know, just to tide me over until breakfast is ready. Front of the stack.
Got the shed full before the rains came! Also a picture of the outside stacks snugged down for the winter! Stacks are seasoned so the tarp is more to keep debris out. Had to leave it away from the face so the Wif would not have to see tarp when she drives up. I told her that if she kept bugging me I was going to pull the tarp all the way down in front and turn the Camo side out. Wouldn't really do that but I do like to wind her up! I have room for about a cord and a half of new wood if the opportunity presents itself
I'm happy that you are allowed to have stacks outside the shed. That sets an important precedent. I seem to remember she was happy to have extra wood to burn last winter? How about two sheds?
Your stacking precision never gets old to see, metalcuttr. No one will ever confuse your stacks with mine!
