First time in 2 years. When I began burning, I was neurotic about that issue. Cleaned after 6 weeks of burning, then after 5 months, then a year. Now I am confident with the burning and won't worry about cleaning more than every other year. Got just over 2 quarts out of some 23 feet of pipe. All fine granular debris. I need to hook up the stove again and am ready to roll.

Brother cleans three times a year. I went all last year without cleaning and didn't get much out when I cleaned this summer. I think if he started fully seasoning his wood his flame would be cleaner.

Great plan.....but don't forget to keep checking that chimney. We haven't cleaned in 4 years but we do check. Actually, my wife does the checking. This summer she found maybe a pint to a quart of fallen ash when she removed the cap from the tee. Said the chimney looked good though so keep the brush in the barn. Fine with me!
