My cleanout is under the steps in the garage. I tape a garbage bag to it and then I take the cap off to let the soot out. This is looking down the chimney with the top section removed. Same section after cleaning After cleaning the chimney I removed the bag and dumped it out and this is what I got, less than a cup. I put the cap on and was done. I still have to clean the stove pipe but I cleaned the gutters since I was on the roof. Proof that burning 3+ year dried wood. Nothing to worry about.
Lookin' good. I cleaned mine in the spring. I'm all set to start burning. Thought about it this morning when I woke to 45° but let it go. Looks like it will be at least another week till I have to think about it.
Likely grab some of this at my local McClendons, my wood is ok but best to just keep things under control from the start.
