This is a nice haul for some one, Posted: 17 hours ago Free Wood (Williamston) http://lansing.craigslist.org/zip/4429288996.html
If I was a few hundred miles closer......I'd be on that like white on rice.....lol Tree service contact is busier now than same time last year - 3 more CL ads since Monday -1st was a big Silver Maple, 2nd was Ash & Honey Locust,3rd ad on Thursday was an Ash + an Oak (he normally says whether Red,White,Bur etc...) on same street 2 houses to the east. Not much room here now,if I maneuver some things a little, can get roughly 1 more big p/u load stacked in last free spot.Am watching/waiting for some more Black Cherry and/or Honey Locust/Mulberry now though.
Well it says, Just need to drive up and load it. A lot of people around here want you to take their brush too, from ice storm
Lots of the ads I see say that also.I'm no trash removal service, unless they're paying me.Am very selective what ads i reply to. Only time I did that was last September for a nice elderly widow on south side of town. She had 1 huge limb on old Apple tree (so many apples on it,it split & fell to the ground) that needed removed + another even bigger almost dead Apple tree to remove. She originally wanted the whole tree gone, but since majority of it was healthy with no damage I talked her out of it.I raked the yard nice & neat, removed all the brush (3 p/u loads of that, almost 1/2 load I saved for kindling & my little smoker).Plus 1 1/2 loads of larger wood from 2" up to 24" stump/large limbs..Also said help my self to all the apples & she had a surplus of tomatoes too. Finally gave me a late 1940's cast iron Delta 8" table saw with working 1/2 HP motor & rip fence.Just needs the fence rails (not too hard to locate on ebay),a good cleaning & couple other minor things.Already have a good table saw,but will restore this one some day.A local tree service quoted her $600 just to remove the mostly dead tree 2-3 yrs ago,she thought that was too much & eventually placed ad on CL last September. She was very pleased & kept my number, saying that she might want that remaining tree removed in a year or so,if it don't come back from the severe winter we just had.
I here ya ,I'm no trash removal service either. I'm always straight up from the get go ,Tell em I don't take anything under 3" Good on you for helping that lady out
You guys work too hard , don't need to be white on rice here. Tree man wood comes to you. Just make a call, sit back, have a beer, maybe a few more, but don't sweat it. The wood shows up. (This is one of the many) Free firewood rounds and woodchips (Bergen County) Free firewood rounds and woodchips available for delivery to your home. Quality hardwood (oak, maple, ash, etc.) only. Note: rounds are full-circumference trunk pieces. You will have to split and season yourself. Woodchips are various hard and soft woods and are delivered in 20-25 yard quanitys only. You must have an area (driveway, lawn, etc.) where we can dump the wood during business hours 8 AM - 5 PM. We cannot call ahead or make appointments. Reply via email or call Precision Tree Service.
My tree man delivers also. Not quite 1 cord White/Red Oak in mid December, almost 2 more in mid February of Silver Maple. All random length, biggest stuff is no more than 4 feet long, smaller stuff up to 6-7 feet, which is fine. He's got a heavy duty dump trailer with a winch. When he asked me last February "What size do you want?" I replied "As big as you got,I have bars up to 42" & a couple saws that will pull them easily...." No one else around here seems to want the bigger stuff,I take whatever he brings, large gnarly crotch or stump pieces included.Dont bother me none just so I don't have to lift those 400+lb behemoths into MY truck!
I had somewhat of the reverse of that conversation with the guy who gives me log loads. Once when unloading he had some big old maple trunks on his truck. I asked him why he didn't unload them. He said they were too big and not to waste my time, just clean up what he gave me and call up if I want more. He was right. I'm fine with 20' long 14-24" diameter logs.
Yes he does.If he's within 5 miles or so of you, which he has been so far.One time in Aug 2012 I went to the jobsite address to grab a few smaller pieces of Honey Locust (he always lists address in case you want to pick up some smaller stuff yourself,he only delivers full loads which can be 2.5 to 3.5 large pickup loads) & noticed he already had trailer loaded full of rounds from 18" to 30",including a monster 36" diameter x 3 feet long lower trunk section..... I really wanted that big chunk for milling slabs in the future (still sitting out back) so I asked "how much to follow me home (about 3 miles) and dump that in backyard?" He said "not a thing..." So he dumped it & I insisted on giving him a $20 for not having to transfer even the smaller rounds to my truck.Told him he could buy a pizza or 2 with soft drinks for himself & his 3 crew members..... So now I watch for his ads & he even calls me once in a while when having stuff that might interest me.Its a win-win for everyone - he gets rid of wood he don't have to haul to county landfill/pay to dump, the property owner gets their yard cleaned up fast & I get lots of future firewood & prized raw material for various woodworking/woodturning projects....
Someone within 15mi has Been notified. Sledge n wedge, noodle em, roll some up the ramp. I don't, need it to bad to do the drive , if it was closer it would be in my trailer yesterday
Hell ya that's the kinda CL adds I jump on, all cut up, easy access, get them doggies Rollin. And I get em to, cut I'm retired, and I Can jump, he he
Same... 18" and under is best for me since that's all my machine can cut to. Logs are usually 40-50ft though. I usually cut in 1/2 to make them manageable with the Bobcat unless they are small.
