There I was.....minding my own business....turning on the TV.... and it wouldn't. I tried several things - no go. So, off I went to BJ's and brought home - We had a Samsung 52". Because of a smaller bezel(tv frame around the screen), we have a slightly larger picture in a smaller total length & width. I'm slowly getting it configured to work the way I want it to. It's a smaht tv. 1st one we've owned. So far so good.
ooh, Samsung, that's the brand of smaht TV that was sued for recording all the conversations in the room and selling all recorded conversations and any data to third parties. Actually, they were sued for not telling consumers they were doing it. Now they are supposed to warn you they are listening.
I was reading where there's a microphone on it somewhere. It's used for voice commands. I'll figure out how to shut it off. Thanks!
We recently got our first smaht tv too. Cut the cable, cancelled Comcast/Xfinity all together and switched to TMOBILE. Phones too. I’ve been a loyal Sony TV guy since my first one about 1990ish. They’ve been good to me so I stay w/ them. The only bummer so far, it doesn’t have any RCA outs to run to my stereo. I’ll have to buy a separate dac.
Congratulations on getting a very nice TV!Don't activate Alexa or whatever the thing is. I also don't give my TV access to my internet (never have, never will - don't need to). I'm dreading the day my Samsung TV Series 6300 craps out. I love this thing. About the only "shared" thing I got from the divorce that I never thought of getting rid of (hmm, trying to think of shared things I got, and I can only remember 1 other thing - and that is gone). It's a 2010 LED 46" model and still looks as good, or better than most that I've seen whenever I happen to stop at Best Buy. A couple of years ago I was looking for a soundbar and ended up Moticing a Samsung Crystal UHD. It was the only TV that caught my eye as definitely being better upon first impression. I talked to a sales guy for a while, and came home to think about it. The guy at first seemed to know a lot about TV's, but he just knew the geeky and impressive sounding specs. He had no idea about some of the actual functions and usage details. Like, does it have an automatic screen brightness adjuster depending on room light? He didn't think/know that was thing. Was there a way to keep the Alexa (or whatever) from being in use, he had no idea. When I started looking at power usage (one would think that newer, of comparable size would be more efficient), that was the hard kicker for waiting until it dies.
Good luck with it Mike. Ours in the living room is 50" We upgraded last year. They only seem to last a few years it seems. I hate them. I'm not smaht enough for technology. They do eavesdrop as it seems we'll be talking about something and it seems it comes up on her tablet. Our service gets messed up and you need a PHD to get it working again. Remember the good old days when you had to get off the couch to change the channel? Rabbit ears and vertical hold too?
Yup, my first as a kid was B&W. Funny story as I recall moving into my first apartment in 1999 and had a 13 color TV with a built in VCR (remember those) and the cable TV guy who hooked up my service was teasing me about it. I would sit on the coffee table most of the time to watch it. Actually moved into the house my fiance at the time and i bought with it. We got a 19" for a wedding gift and thought we had a big screen!
